Peel for macOS · Snack Studio · Effective October 14, 2026 · Updated November 3, 2026 (the site moved to filesunwrapped.com, the update address was corrected, and remembered passwords, this website's visit counting and buying Peel Pro are described)

The short version

Peel does not collect, store or share any personal data. Archives you open and the files inside them stay on your Mac.

What Peel does with your files

Peel reads the archives you open and writes their contents where you choose, or into its own folder on your Mac when you browse an archive. All of this happens on your Mac. Peel never uploads your files, their names or their contents anywhere. If you tick Remember in Keychain when Peel asks for an archive's password, the password is stored in your login keychain on this Mac, and you can remove it in Keychain Access.

Network connections

Analytics, tracking and accounts

Peel contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and has no accounts.

Buying Peel Pro

If you buy Peel Pro from this site, Stripe processes the payment and receives your email address, country and payment details. Snack Studio sees your email, country and the purchase in Stripe, and uses them only to provide your licence, refunds and support. Your licence page reads the purchase from Stripe each time you open it; nothing else is stored. In Peel, the licence is kept in your Keychain and checked on your Mac, never online, and nothing you do in Recovery leaves your Mac. In the Mac App Store edition, Apple handles the purchase. See the Peel Pro terms.

This website

filesunwrapped.com counts visits and a few actions, such as download clicks and which questions are opened, to learn what helps people. It uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which set no cookies, don't store your IP address and don't follow you to other sites; counts are kept only in aggregate. Nothing here tracks the Peel app itself, which has no analytics.

Permissions Peel asks for

Peel asks for access to a folder only so it can extract archives into it, and remembers that choice on your Mac. The edition downloaded from this site can also ask to control Finder, so double-clicking an archive opens it in the same Finder window. You can change both at any time in System Settings.
